Lucas Jones

Head Coach

Lucas Jones

Former First-Team All-American and Old Dominion Athletic Conference Player of the Year Lucas Jones starts his first season with the Rebels in 2008-09.

Jones, as Assistant Coach at Randolph-Macon College made an immediate impact on the Yellow Jackets program this past spring, helping the school capture its first league championship since 1987, while making its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 1977.

A former standout at ODAC rival Lynchburg College, Jones works with Hedrick on all day-to-day operations of the R-MC baseball program including spearheading recruiting efforts, on field instruction, while over seeing the team’s academic performance and strength and conditioning program.

Under the tutelage of Jones, R-MC hit .325 as a club in 2008, while First-Team All-ODAC left fielder Mike Wallace led the league in hitting and fellow first teamer Greg Meleski broke both the single season and career hit record.

Jones took over for Evan Brannon who left the R-MC program in December of 2007 after three seasons to take an Area Scouting Supervisor position in Florida with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays organization.

Jones came to R-MC after spending 2007 with the Rams of Virginia Commonwealth University where he served as a volunteer assistant under Paul Keyes. While at VCU, he was a member the staff that helped guide the Rams to the 2007 CAA Championship and an appearance at the NCAA Tournament in the Myrtle Beach, SC Regional.

As a player at Lynchburg, Jones hit .426 in his three years in the program, starting all possible 121 games over that span. In 2005, he earned the ODAC, State and Regional Player of the Year Awards, and took home first-team All-American honors. Jones was also the conference baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was a first-team academic All-American.

Jones resides in Lynchburg, VA.


Corey Paluga

Assistant Head Coach / Catchers

Corey Paluga

Assistant Coach of the Lynchburg College Hornets Corey Paluga starts his first season with the Rebels in 2008-09.

In addition to two years as as an Assistant Coach of the Hornets, Paluga has assisted with the Lynchburg Cobras in Lynchburg 14U Travel Baseball, with Central Virginia in Dixie Youth Fall Baseball, and with American Legion Williamsburg Post 39.

As an undergarduate at Lunchburg College, Paluga spent four years behind the plate, commiting only two errors in his career and throwing out 43% of attempted base steals.

Paluga resides in Lynchburg, VA.


Assistant Coach "Mo" Weber

Maynard "Mo" Weber

"Mo" returns for his 16th year as Assistant Coach for the Rebels. "Mo" has a Bachelors of Science Degree from Winona State University and a Masters of Science from William and Mary University. He has managed or coached at all levels of NCAA Collegiate baseball, including head coach on the Division I level. "Mo" has also managed and coached in a number of Summer Collegiate Leagues in the United States.

"Mo" resides in Luray, VA.


John Combs

Assistant Coach / Outfield / Strength & Conditioning

John Combs

John Combs returns for his second season in New Market as an assistant coach as well as the strength and conditioning coach.

Combs is in his first year as an assistant coach at the University of Rio Grande, in Rio Grande, OH. Combs works with the outfielders as well as being the first base coach and the Head JV coach for the RedStorm.

Combs came back to his alma mater after coaching and running the strength program at Whiteoak High School, in Mowrystown, OH, for the past 2 years. Combs played 4 years of baseball at Rio Grande and obtained his degree in education. He is currently pursuing his Master’s degree.

Combs currently resides in Rio Grande, OH


Daniel Rollins

Daniel Rollins

Daniel Rollins is starting his first season with the Rebels as an Assistant Coach / Intern.

Rollins was a Volunteer Assistant Coach at Randolph Macon College where he was involved with recruiting, batting practice, and representing Randolph Macon College at baseball camps.

Previously, Rollins was responsible for the team roster, player development, and game-day operations for the Middle Peninsula Mariners.

Rollins has also been an instructor at a number of summer baseball camps.

Rollins currently resides in Ashland, VA.


Abigale Hansberger

Abigail Hansberger

Abbie returns for her sixth season as Head Athletic Trainer for the Rebels

Abbie is completing her first year as Head Athletic Trainer at Strasburg High School.  Prior to working at SHS, she was employed as a clinical athletic trainer for Sentara Careplex Hospital’s Rehab Services.  Abbie has also been the Director of First Aid for the Paul Webb All-Star Basketball Team Camp held every July in Richmond, VA.  In 2006, she was a member of the Athletic Training Staff for the Cornerstone Bancard Hula Bowl held in Honolulu, HI. 

Abbie is a graduate of Bridgewater College and holds a Bachelors of Science in Athletic Training.  She resides in Strasburg, VA.


Katie Getz

Team Liaison

Katie Getz

This is Katie's third year with the Rebels and is the Team Liaison for the Rebels.

Katie was born and raised in the Valley. She works at Park View Federal Credit Union in Harrisonburg and also at James Madison University. At JMU she works in the Athletic Department, mainly with the Men and Women's Basketball Programs and the Baseball program. Katie is a volunteer coach for the Rockingham County Recreation Dept. Girls Basketball League. Katie is also the Special Events Coordinator and Message Center Technician for the Rebels.

Katie resides in Harrisonburg and is pursuing a degree in Sports Administration and Marketing.
